SWWIM Every Day publishes work by women-identifying writers and all gender-expansive definitions of that term.

SWWIM Every Day editors will provide comprehensive feedback about your work. Limit three (3) or six (6) pages. The fee for three (3) pages is $50; the fee for six (6) pages is $100.

  • Send three (3) or six (6) pages of previously unpublished poems of any form or style (including visual poetry) in one file.
  • Title your submission file: LASTNAME_FIRSTNAME (ex: DOE_JANE)
  • Include a third-person, 75-word bio with your submission. We reserve the right to edit for length and clarity.
  • Simultaneous submissions are welcome as long as we are contacted as soon as a poem is no longer available. Should you need to withdraw a poem, please send us a message through Submittable using the “Messages” function. Do not use the “Notes” function as this does not send us an email. Do not withdraw your entire submission unless you intend to withdraw all of your work. For any other matters, please email us at swwimmiami@gmail.com. Please do not DM regarding poem withdrawals.
  • Revisions will not be considered. If you'd like to submit a revision, please withdraw your submission and resubmit through the portal.
  • AI-generated content will not be considered.

Guidelines for Translations

  • We will only publish translations of poetry by women-identifying poets. The translators must also be women-identifying.

  • Translations must be previously unpublished on the Internet. The translator (or author, if author is the one submitting) is responsible for clearing any and all rights and permissions for translated works and must provide proof in the form of a statement of permission. This includes payment of any related fees. Please note that copyright law varies from country to country. SWWIM Every Day will not clear copyright law for translators.

  • Copyright for work appearing in SWWIM Every Day is the same as the other poems that appear on our site (First North American, digital, first serial, and archival rights). When seeking permissions, please make sure that authors and publishers know that work will be made available as a poem-of-the-day on our website, as a newsletter to our digital subscribers, and may also be selected to re-appear on our website as a throwback poem-of-the-day. Permissions should cover electronic and anthology print versions as well as digital reproduction. Rights revert back to the translator on publication. Please cite SWWIM Every Day wherever the translation reappears.
  • We accept simultaneous submissions, as long as we are informed immediately should your work be published elsewhere.

  • Please submit 1-3 poems, both the original and translated versions, in a copy-pastable document format (no PDFs).

  • Please include a statement that says the following: SWWIM Every Day has the permission from both author and translator (and publisher’s permission, if necessary) to publish both the original work and the translation. Any mistakes in Roman, non-Roman, left-to-right, or languages with diacritical marks are assumed to be the fault of the translators and not of SWWIM Every Day, who will reproduce by copy-paste what is supplied.

  • Please include two (2) 75-word bios, one for the original author and one for the translator, written in the third person.
